About Us

Welcome to Ketchikan!

Ketchikan is Alaska’s First City – The Salmon Capital of the World, Ketchikan is situated on the southern portion of the Southeast Alaska Panhandle in the Tongass National Forest. Having a population of approximately 14,000 residents, Ketchikan is located on Revillagigedo Island approximately 679 air miles north of Seattle, Washington, and is accessible only by air or boat. Our climate is mild; we have world-class fishing, hunting, boating and scenery; we're small enough to be friendly and big enough to have a Wal-Mart.

Ketchikan is a community that offers many of the services of a much larger city. There are medical facilities to accommodate most patient needs, and the community has a thriving arts sector, with many world-renowned artists. With jet service several times a day, every day, things that cannot be found locally can be ordered and shipped quickly.
