Alfred and Martha Everson came to Ketchikan to do missionary work. They started the Guiding Light Children's Home at Mountain Point in 1946. Their intent with the home was to provide a structured Christian upbringing to children. At its peak, the home is believed to have housed 26 children, likely all boys. Operations likely ceased when the Eversons sold the home in 1956. Please contact Sr. Curator of Collections Hayley Chambers at (907) 228-5708 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you are able to help us identify any of the boys.
